Grendel and Matt Wagner Are Getting Back Together!

Matt Wagner's most famous creation is set to return.  That's right, Grendel is back, and he's being drawn, and written by Matt Wagner for the first time in a decade.  Check out Dark Horses press release below........

For the first time in over a decade, comics pioneer Matt Wagner writes and draws a miniseries starring his most influential creation—Hunter Rose, the original and most feared assassin known as Grendel! Launching this July with a fifty-cent prologue issue, Grendel: Behold the Devil chronicles an untold chapter in the life of Hunter Rose over the course of eight intrigue-laden, blood-soaked issues.

A child prodigy, Rose grew up to become a bestselling novelist by day and a criminal mastermind by night. It was only after his death that Rose's step-granddaughter, the noted journalist Christine Spar, discovered his private journals and uncovered Grendel's true meaning as a symptom of society's mediocrity and ceaseless lust for violence. Now, the final missing pages of Rose's journals, long thought lost, have been discovered.

“For the first time, readers will be privy to a narrative that even Christine Spar was never able to uncover,” said Wagner. “We will not only find out what happened during that time, but also why those pages were ripped out and what, ultimately, became of them.”

The twenty-fifth anniversary of Grendel's first appearance, 2007 is the perfect time for Wagner to tell this epic new tale of the character that launched his illustrious career.

“In twenty-five years, Matt has gone from a talented kid with a lot of spunk to one of the most popular and innovative creators in comics,” said Senior Editor Diana Schutz. “Behold the Devil is a masterpiece addition to his already impressive oeuvre.”

Colored in the black, white, and red color palette synonymous with stories of Hunter Rose, each issue in this eight-part series contains twenty pages of story and retails for $2.99.

Featuring an introductory story exclusive to the issue, the fifty-cent prologue of Grendel: Behold the Devil arrives on sale from Dark Horse Comics on July 18.

Nova #1 Preview Is Here!

Check out the press release about Nova's new series below, and then click on the full (with dialogue) preview pages to view them at their regular size.

Launching from Annihilation, Nova appears in his very own series!

In the wake of the Annihilation wave, can one man truly protect the entire universe? In the new ongoing series Nova, writers Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning (Annihilation: Nova), and artist Sean Chen (Sensational Spider-Man) will answer that question.

Straight from the pages of Annihilation and Annihilation: Nova, the story of Richard Rider, the man known as Nova, continues. With every other member of the Nova Corps killed during the events of Annihilation, Nova is now the sole survivor of the Nova Corps, and the bearer of nearly limitless power. Even with the power of the entire corps, can he alone police the entire universe?

Furthermore, as he fights to continue the work of the Nova Corps, will he lose sight of his place on Earth? And his former teammates and friends? Speaking of former teammates, you cannot miss Initiative tie-ins in Nova #2 and #3 when Rich Rider learns of the death of the New Warriors and comes face-to-face with Iron Man and the Thunderbolts.

When Rich learns that his former New Warriors teammate known as Speedball is now the T-Bolt Penance, it won’t be pretty. Strap yourself in as writers Dan Abnett, Lanning, and Chen take you for a ride that will span the entire Marvel Universe, and will prove that one man really can make a difference. Featuring covers by acclaimed Iron Man cover artist Adi Granov.
