Ultimate Civil War Spider-Ham (Featuring Wolver-Ham)
The Marvel Ham-iverse stands on the brink of destruction. You can take the money right out of my pocket. With all the huge “earth shattering” events that have been taking over comics, sometimes comic book creators need to take a step back, and realize that not everything needs to shatter the universe. I give Marvel a round of applause for doing that. To be honest, this is not a comic that you pick up hoping for a plot. So when I started reading this ham-tastic one shot, I was surprised to find that there actually was a plot (kind of). Spider-Ham is in search of his missing word balloons. This leads him to Doctor Strange, who is conspicuously not sporting a ham-tacular name nor likeness. Doctor Strange in turn sends him down a dark path which leads him through Vietnam and a place even scarier…..the mighty Marvel Bullpen! The horrors don’t stop for our heroic ham, as he runs into Wolver-Ham! What effect does Wolver-Ham have on the story? None! But since he appears on one page, his name gets plastered on the cover! Now, it’s things like this that make me realize that comic book creators do realize that their whole profession revolves around creating stories about men and women who hop around in tights, and therefore, that sometimes they should laugh at themselves. Then, Iron-Ham, Green Ham (and eggs), the Fantastic Ham, Deviled Ham, Ant-Ham, Aunt-Ham, Ultimate Captain Hamerica, Hambit, and Hamneto make appearances…….and then Doctor Strange is back! Finally, Spider-Ham finds his long lost word balloons, and tries to make a getaway, but oops! Now there are Zombie Hams! The Story of Spider-Ham will be continued in The Onslaught of the Infinite House of 52 Secret Hams! A Seven issue maxi-series coming………..never, which will rock the Marvel Ham-iverse to its bone! Watch as Ham-iverse heroes act out of character and a new villain will come onto the scene…….DARK EARTH-H HAMBIT!

There’s only one question you should be asking yourself, as this world shattering event approaches: Whose Ham are you Eating?

52 #39
In this issue of 52, a lot of cumulative ground is covered, but since so many parts of the story are given screen time, not much really is covered in each individual story. We start the issue with the spotlight on Lex Luthor’s treacherous actions. From there we move to Atlantis where we get our first peek of Aquaman, pre “One Year Later,” as well as some new developments in Ralph Dibny’s journey. Next we flash to the mad Scientists Island, and then we move on to Black Adam, and his Black Marvel Family. Finally, the story is capped off when we get another look at the Lex Luthor plot, and a couple old plot threads come together. So, overall, no single plot gets a lot of attention, but four of the plot threads get some exposure. This is the first issue in awhile where I felt like the writers took a breather. However, it was another solid entry into this epic saga, so I just hope that next week, the break neck pace of previous issues returns.
