Spider-man Reign #1

Kaare Andrews will never be considered a run of the mill comic book creator. He has infused his unique style into Spider-man now, and I think he has captured everyone's attention. Batman has the Dark Knight Returns, and the whole DC Universe has Kingdom Come, and now it's Spider-man's turn to get a look into his dark future.
The first issue provides readers with the set up. Peter Parker is a broken man. His wife is gone, and he is alone. Parker has hit rock bottom, and it takes an unlikely friend to bring him, and Spider-man back. Overall, the first issue is mainly set up, but I get the feeling that the next three issues are going to blow the roof off the place.
The art (which combines traditional pencil work, and 3-D rendering) is excellent, and has a DKR style (on purpose). The stage is set, and the next three issues have the potential to be great. The only negative is that Andrews might be referencing DKR more than what is necessary.
If he makes the story his own, then this mini series could end up being one of the best Spider-man stories to date. Good story + great art = comic book goodness.
