The Immortal Iron Fist #1-#2
If you want proof as to why Civil War is good for comics, look no further than Iron Fist. This series would never happen without the sales juggernaut that is Civil War.
Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction team up to bring us a new look at Iron Fist (AKA Danny Rand), which also chronicles the bearers of the iron fist throughout history. David Aja provides pitch perfect art that fits the story like a glove. I have never read an Iron Fist book before, and when I picked this one up, I was unsure of how this story was going to hit me. What I found was that Marvel advertised the heck out of this book, and they were completely right to do so.
The art is a perfect fit, and they found a way to write an Iron Fist book that satisfied the small group of "Iron Fist fans" and newcomers such as myself. At the end of the second issue, we get a teaser that guarantees that I will be picking up at least the rest of this arc.
It's hard to pass up a well written, and well drawn book. Hopefully the story ends as well as it has began. Until then, I will make sure that I pick up anything and everything that Ed Brubaker has written, because this guy is the comic book industry's next super star.
