3 Simple Questions
Well, I said I was going in a new direction, so here it is! Yeah, it’s not all that new, but hey, it’s a different way of doing some interviews, and I think it’s pretty fun. So, let’s get crackin’, and introduce our panel for this installment (I'm hoping this will be the first of many)..............
Ron Marz: Mr. Marz is most well known for his work as a writer on Green Lantern. He took Kyle Rayner from a guy that fans hated to a fan favorite! He recently finished the 12 issue mini series by the name of Ion which details Kyle Rayner’s adventures with his new powers.
Scott Kolins: Kolins has drawn just about every major character out there. His most famous runs have come on the Flash (while collaborating with Geoff Johns), and on the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes mini series. Currently, he is the artist on the Omega Flight mini series.
Eric Shanower: Shanower is the Eisner award winning writer/artist of Age of Bronze, which tells his interpretation of the Trojan War.
JG Jones: The man with the adamantium drawing hand! Jones drew all 52 covers for 52, and he is currently doing more cover work, and getting ready to work on All Star Batgirl along with Geoff Johns.
So, now that we’re done with introductions, let’s see the questions, and the answers...........
1) What is the one comic book related item that you would want with you on a deserted island, and why?
Ron Marz: She-Hulk. Duh.
Scott Kolins: I'm going to cheat, and say 2 things: Pencil and paper. That way I could write & draw and keep myself company.
Eric Shanower:Locas by Jaime Hernandez, because then I'd have time to actually sit down and read the entire thing.
JG Jones: I would want a Bat-signal with a generator so I could signal the search planes and get off that frickin' deserted island.
2) What is your favorite single issue ever, and why?
Ron Marz: Thor #337. Blew me away then, and still does now. THAT'S the way to come onto a book and announce that there's a new sheriff in town.
Scott Kolins: Hellboy movie prop comic. I have a Hellboy movie prop comic that Mignola covered with a Hellboy version of an old Kirby Thor Comic and the inside reprinted The Corpse & The Iron shoes.
Eric Shanower: I find this an impossible question to answer definitively and my answer would probably change if you asked me another time, but I'll say "Back to the Klondike" by Carl Barks, the story in which Uncle Scrooge re-encounters his old flame, Glittering Goldie. It's well-drawn and well-written, full of intelligence and emotion.
JG Jones: Amazing Spiderman #121: the death of Gwen Stacy completely altered the way I looked at comic books. Major characters just didn't die in comics in those days, and since I identified so strongly with Peter Parker, losing Gwen was like losing my own girlfriend. It was devastating.
3) If you had to guess, what exactly do you think Alan Moore keeps hidden in his beard?
Ron Marz: Something the rest of us writers don’t know about, because he's still light years ahead of all of us.
Scott Kolins: More ideas and angst!
Eric Shanower: Magic things.
JG Jones: A family of gnomes.
